Hubble, Edwin Powell 1889-1953, American astronomer involved in the study of galaxies. The Hubble constant, a telescope and Hubble's law (spectral line shift of extra-galactic objects) are named after him. The Hubble space telescope orbits the Earth at an altitude of 500 kilometers and has shown an extraordinary performance.
